What Is Threat Modeling

Introduction to Threat Modeling Learning Lab

Build your threat model foundation and, confidence in your code

Teams experience real-world, hands-on exercises reviewing various data flow diagrams, identifying threats and mitigations, and sharing results. This two-hour session produces replicable steps and concepts to help developers and testers put security-focused threat modeling into action.

Everyone from security teams to CISOs wants to ingrain threat modeling across the organization, but how do you build it at scale?

In this learning lab, teams participate in a two-hour security threat modeling session including real-world, hands-on exercises. This immersive and interactive experience engages participants by reviewing various data flow diagrams, identifying threats and mitigations, and sharing results. Plus, we include replicable steps and concepts to help developers and testers put security-focused threat modeling into action.

What To Expect:

This learning lab contains three phases:

  • Phase One: an instructional session on security threat modeling and the process that we recommend teams follow for success.

  • Phase Two: an expert-led set of three small group exercises. Each group works through collaborative threat modeling exercises. After each, a readout occurs of the most stimulating things discovered during the experience.

  • Phase Three: an open question and answer, where participants can ask questions about threat modeling.

Results & Takeaways:

Participants will be introduced to the concept of threat modeling, with an understanding of what it is and how to apply their knowledge of threats and mitigations to existing data flow diagrams.
